Last week, on December 13th, our club championship took place on Flurstraße. This time, despite the high number of participants, all events were played on the same day. First, the mixed doubles took place, the discipline with the most entries. After many close sets and hard-fought rallies, Xiaotian/Jackie and Vincent/Lauren reached the final in the A-Class. It took three tight sets before Vincent and Lauren were able to secure the title. Due to the lower number of entries in the B-Class, the A- and B-Classes had to play together, but an additional final was still held, which Harvey and Alina won.

After that, the men’s and women’s doubles took place. In the men’s B doubles, Uli and Stefan secured the title. In the A-Class, the matches from the semifinals onward were already very close. The first semifinal between Ta/Victor and Jonas S./Hoa was amazing, with every point having to be fought for. The final was even better, as Jonas S./Hoa and Vincent/Xiaotian had to fight hard for the title. In the end, Jonas/Hoa had to concede, and Vincent/Xiaotian became the new men’s doubles champions.
In the women’s doubles, only the group stage was played since there were only five entries. Nevertheless, the matches were just as exciting. The last group match was also coincidently the decisive game for the title, in which Laura/Pia had to play against Bailin/Jackie. After two very close sets, Laura and Pia had well deserved the title.

Finally, the men’s and women’s singles took place. In the men’s A singles, Xiaotian won convincingly against Dinh Nong, with that result, it also meant that he took part in all three A-Class finals of the day, an outstanding performance! In the B-Class, Uli also secured his second title of the day—great job! In the women’s B singles, Xue became the champion, and in the A-Class, Bailin also deservedly won the title.

Afterwards, the award ceremony was held by Daniel K, followed, as always, by a small Christmas celebration. In addition, there was a glimpse into the future (of badminton?) with a “special guest: the humanoid robot G1 from Unitree.”
Congratulations to all the winners, and thanks to all participants! We are already looking forward to the next club championship.
